The Post Hurricane
Georges Fixed-point Photo Page

Above each photo I have included the photo
point number and a description of the location. Below each photo is the date and a
parenthetical statement about the timing relative to Hurricane Georges. For example, G + 9
d means 9 days after; G + 6 m means 6 months after, etc. Not every photo is shown here,
just those that are proving to be useful (I took a lot of photos, and some really don't
show much). Some photos on some dates were not possible because of weather, and some
slides were lost by the photo lab. The photos were shot on Ektachrome 400 with an
Olympus OM-2 with a Zuiko 50 mm lens set to f16 (generally) at shutter speeds between
1/125 and 1/500. (Photo 13 was with a 300 mm lens.) All photos © 1998, 99 John R.

I'm not terribly pleased with the
quality of some of the scans, although the originals look good. I am working on
re-scanning some of them. Some funding for this project was provided by NASA under
grant NAGW-4059 and there was in-kind support from the NSF LTER program (BSR-8811902).
I especially want to thank a number of people with the US Forest Service,
particularly Lizzette Vélez, Jaime Valentín, and José Candelario, for allowing me
access to areas of the forest that were closed after the hurricane.
